CA ecoSoftware products are designed to help enterprises to manage the implementation, progress and outcomes of global sustainability initiatives more effectively, to measure and report reliably on energy and natural resource consumption, to account for carbon emissions and to reduce energy costs across the datacenter and facilities.
CA offers a comprehensive solution addressing sustainability management, carbon management, environmental assessments and operational energy management.
After research CA decided to focus research in the near term on the Carbon Accounting market as part of its own internal strategy to control resource use. This was done with any eye on providing existing and potentially new customers with a solution, a need reaffirmed by regulatory and market forces including an increase demand for energy consumption analysis as part of many client request for proposals.
CA ecoSoftware is available as Saas, which is the primary delivery for the Sustainability Management, Carbon Management and Environmental Assessments functions. The Operational Management capability is only offered as an on premise client/server application.
CA notes that all applications can be deployed as an on-premises application if required. On premises installations run on a Windows server. The server side uses Oracle for database services, however a separate licence is not required as the database is packaged with the application. Database installation is part of the package install.
Client access for both the SaaS and the on-premises solution is browser-based, with support for all common browsers running on a range of client operating systems.
