Carbon Emissions Management Software
Vendor: CERC

EMIT is a CEMS product that helps organisations to store, manipulate and assess emissions data from a variety of sources. Emissions data recorded by EMIT can be used for local air pollution studies of toxic pollutants, GHG emissions inventories, and road traffic noise mapping studies.

Cambridge Environmental Research Consultants (CERC) was established in 1986 with the aim of making use of new developments in environmental research from Cambridge University and elsewhere for practical purposes. Based in Cambridge, UK, they have over 20 technical consultants worldwide. The Emissions Toolkit software (EMIT) has been released to assess emissions of global pollutants (greenhouse gases).

The software offers IPPC, UK Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory (UK GHG), UK Emission Factor Database (UK EFD), Agenda 21 and Kyoto compliance.

The software is delivered as a desktop application that is hosted internally be a client. It runs on Windows and is available only in English.

EMIT can hold data from sources that may be too small to be considered explicitly, and instead are treated as average emissions on a regular grid. Sources (such as agriculture, industrial plants, road and rail traffic, air traffic, electricity, landfill, commercial and domestic heating) with known emission rates can be imported into EMIT.
